Na Caoraí Caorthainn / An Archive of Home Recordings is an ongoing project which features a group of raw unaltered recordings of traditional songs found within the repertoire of Dàibhidh Stiùbhard.
Included are songs from Ireland. Britain , America and Greece.
They are a mixture of :
- old songs found in the tradition.
- original compositions in the traditional style.
- original variations on old songs.
The name ' Na Caoraí Caorthainn ' originates from a line of the Tyrone version of Maidin Fhómhair (recorded in 1931 by the Doegen archive and sang by Pádraig Ó Gallchobhair.) The name was chosen as a link to his family and Tyrone (the native county of Dàibhidh). It was also chosen for its meaning 'The Rowan berries'. This is in homage to the Rowan family who have helped and encouraged his singing. Where the berries are the fruit of the tree these songs have been the fruit of their encouragement.
